Supporters might assert that while climate change remains a pressing issue, current global actions have been effective in mitigating some of its worst effects. They could highlight initiatives aimed at adaptation and resilience-building in vulnerable communities, as well as investments in climate-related research and technology development, as evidence that current efforts are making a positive impact in addressing the challenges posed by climate change.
Example: “In regions prone to extreme weather events, such as coastal areas susceptible to hurricanes, current global actions have helped communities better prepare and respond to climate-related disasters. Take the case of Bangladesh, where early warning systems and resilient infrastructure have significantly reduced the loss of life and property damage during cyclones. This demonstrates that while climate change remains a threat, our proactive measures are making a difference in safeguarding vulnerable populations.”
Evidence: The article: “Strategies for mitigation of climate change: a review”. points out that biogenic-based sequestration techniques are to some extent mature and can be implemented immediately. Moreover, they are evolving and maturing in carbon markets until they are phased out. It also points out that most of the related technologies can be implemented immediately, so there is a great deal of evolution in this area.
