Supporters may emphasize the importance of global cooperation and commitment in addressing climate change. They could argue that the collective efforts of governments, businesses, and civil society around the world demonstrate a growing recognition of the urgency of the climate crisis and a willingness to take action. They might point to initiatives such as the establishment of carbon pricing mechanisms, the phase-out of fossil fuel subsidies, and the mobilization of climate finance as examples of the international community’s commitment to tackling climate change.
Example: “The recent Glasgow Climate Pact, signed by nearly 200 countries, underscores the unprecedented level of global cooperation and commitment to addressing climate change. Countries have pledged to enhance their nationally determined contributions (NDCs) and ramp up efforts to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. Moreover, initiatives like the Climate Investment Funds, supported by multiple donor countries, signify a collective commitment to mobilizing resources for climate action in developing nations. These examples highlight the growing solidarity and shared responsibility in the fight against climate change.”
Evidence: Evidence: As explained in the article: “A review of the global climate change impacts, adaptation, and sustainable mitigation measures”. More and more investment is being made in renewable energies, which are non-polluting and use fewer resources such as oil. Politically, many countries are pushing for measures to encourage these changes and some sectors such as agriculture are benefiting.
